Immediately after I gave birth to my 15-year-old twins, I was diagnosed with Auto-Immune Hepatitis, and as a result, my immune system is extremely compromised. I am a schoolteacher, and I contracted sepsis during the 2020-2021 school year. The doctors had a very tough time finally finding an antibiotic to which my body would respond. I was in the hospital for over a week. Luckily, my ex-husband watched after our children while I get strong enough to care for them. It was awful. The hospital bills and time off work have me inching my way out of extreme debt. I am so grateful for the Begin Again Foundation. The $1,000.00 was so helpful in my attempts to get "caught up" financially. Although there is no cure for the disease, I am rest-assured in knowing that organizations like Begin Again are out there to assist folks that have nowhere to go for resources. Thank you so much!
