I had sepsis three times and septic shock with liver failure once. Sepsis caused a massive pulmonary embolism that killed my right lung and damaged my heart. I’ve had four heart surgeries and have a pacemaker now. Because of sepsis, I had to give up my chef career and my life completely changed. One thing people should know about sepsis are the early signs. I wouldn’t be alive if I didn’t recognize the early symptoms and get to the hospital early. Having sepsis four times left me disabled, but I’m like a cat with nine lives.
