Sepsis Survivor Jackie Johnson is 28 and from Beloit, Wisconsin. Jackie was diagnosed with sepsis in February of 2018 from the flu, was hospitalized for 2 weeks and on a ventilators.

In her own words, Jackie shares what she would like others to know about surviving sepsis. "You are forever changed. Research Post Sepsis Syndrome as much as you can to understand your new self. Your mind will be different but that’s okay. You're alive and that’s what matters. I know it doesn’t seem to matter, because you can’t remember anything and all your hair fell out. You lose people you were close to, you aren’t interested in things you used to be. Focus on yourself. You aren’t going to be the same person you once were but be open to the new you. Sepsis may have taken a lot from me, but it can’t take my happiness anymore."

Jackie, we think you are incredible and you're doing a great job! Being a sepsis survivor isn't easy. Recognizing your challenges and embracing them is half the battle. Keep up the hard work. You've got this!
